Since I spent most of the day cooking, we did not do as many fun learning activities as we normally do. I did try a new color activity that went pretty well, so I will be adding this one to our rotation. We got Judah a bag of play food at a yard sale a few weeks ago, and he really enjoys playing with it. In the world of Judah, step one of playing with any container full of toys is of course to dump its entire contents on the floor. As he was sitting in the floor in the middle of this giant pile of play food, I asked Judah if he saw any food that was green. He picked up a piece of broccoli and brought it to me with a big smile on his face. I asked him to identify it, which he did ("Brocky!"), and I set it down and asked if he saw anything else. This continued until he brought me every piece of green food. We then moved on to red. After bringing me several pieces, he decided he wanted to roll around in our piles of green and red food. So this activity only lasted 10 minutes or so, but that's pretty good for a 22-month old.
Judah also has a set of alphabet blocks (http://www.walmart.com/ip/Playskool-Alphabet-Blocks-40-Piece/31956223) that we brought out and played with today. I love these blocks, they have both uppercase and lowercase letters, and pictures of things that begin with each letter on the blocks. We started by making the alphabet using lower case letters. Then we worked on stacking blocks. We were able to stack them 20 blocks high before Judah decided to knock them over. He never lets the stack get that high!
We also played with Play-Doh today (as we do most days) and used chalk on Judah's chalkboard easel to draw shapes. He is getting pretty good at drawing circles! More learning activities to come tomorrow, and since I am starting the blog up I will take pictures!
